To be honest, I usually shoot weddings in a combination of styles simply
because that is what my wedding customers generally want. This will usually
involve a mixture of traditional (formal) and the more contemporary
candid, documentary
or photojournalistic
style. The later is far more difficult because in involves constantly being
on your toes to be in the right place at the right time to catch those important
moments - the instants when something is happening, especially something
that is fun and will therefore make a memorable picture.
The other important thing in my approach is that I to try to be as unintrusive
as possible. I have been a guest at weddings where the photographer literally
spoiled the wedding because he or she was so intrusive and demanding.
In shooting formal shots with the wedding party, I also work to make this
as fast and stress-free as possible, I try to get people to relax and to
be at ease because that generally makes for a better picture, and a more
enjoyable wedding.
